Should You Replace Gutters With a New Roof?

Often it makes sense: the roof edge is open, the drip edge is new, and old gutters rarely line up with it.

Should you replace gutters when you replace the roof?

It is usually worth it if the gutters sag, leak at the seams or sit below the new roof edge, because the roof edge is open and new drip edge has to feed into them. If they are sound and line up with the new edge, keeping them is fine. We check both at the free inspection.

Built-in gutters on older houses

Many prewar houses have gutters built into the roof edge or cornice instead of hung from it. When those leak, the choices range from relining them to closing them in and hanging new gutters; on a designated house, the review body has a say in which. We assess them at the inspection and tell you what we can and can't take on.

Do you do gutters without a roof job?
Yes. Gutters and downspouts can be replaced on their own; send the form and pick Gutters as the project.
